July 2008 — Troika Systems Limited, Highworth, a UK company at the forefront of innovative development for print-based quality control products, has confirmed that the company was delighted with the levels of interest and the levels of orders taken on the stand at the recent Drupa event.
The latest Troika Systems line-up spanned the widest possible range of printing disciplines, including gravure, intaglio, flexography, and lithography. Troika really had something for everyone at Drupa 2008!
Troika Systems’ Graham Manders said that visitors showed particular interest in the company’s flexographic quality control tools. “We saw a significant growth in interest in quality control from the flexo sector, with printers looking to differentiate themselves from their competition, and focusing more and more on consistent product quality,” he said. “The FlexoCAM and AniCAM were seen as the main benchmark tools, but companies also understood our strategy in making the Plate-II-Print product available for use on the shopfloor, allowing them to maintain one single standard of quality control throughout the organisation.” Orders were taken on the stand for flexographic-based product for Europe, Asia, North and South America.
Drawing numbers from a summary of leads taken at the show, the most significant interest in Troika products came from: Germany, France, India, Russia, Poland, Brazil, China, and UK. “This was undoubtedly the busiest show yet for Troika Systems, and we were delighted with the results,” added Mr Manders. The company is now busy fulfilling orders taken during the show and just after the event.
Graham Manders added that significant interest was also shown in the company’s newly released GravureCAM product. “We still anticipate that the product will not be in full production until the last quarter of 2008, but took over 60 good quality sales leads for GravureCAM during Drupa. That should provide with a solid start to our sales activity.”
Troika Drupa Product Line-Up
NEW: GravureCAM
Making its debut at Drupa, the company received a strong demand from distributors and dealers for a device with the ability to read chrome gravure cylinders. The challenges for measuring gravure cells are different to those addressed so successfully by AniCAM, and new software for gravure analysis has been developed by Troika Systems. Based on similar camera technology as the AniCAM unit, GravureCAM is now in operation at beta sites in Europe and USA. Production units are scheduled for release within two months of the show.
NEW: IntaglioCAM
Security printing is a specialist market. To cope with the special requirements associated with the security print market Troika Systems has developed IntaglioCAM. This product is a mono censored, high speed, camera with three times higher resolution compared to Troika Systems flagship camera, the AniCAM. Due to the specialist nature of this market sector, Troika would be interested in hearing from specialist equipment distributors in all countries during the show.
UPDATED: AniCAM
AniCAM is a quality control instrument for measuring the volume of cells on anilox cylinders. Product on show at Drupa will feature the latest software version for AniCAM, released in the first quarter of 2008. AniCAM is now proving itself to be the worldwide market leader in anilox volume measurement, and is fast becoming the standard by which other devices are compared. The show will provide the launch for the next version of the colour camera for AniCAM, which will improve the already impressive analysis speed by over two times. A single measurement on an anilox roll can now be taken in less than one minute. AniCAM will also be shown on the Pamarco Global Graphics stand (hall 16, stand A78).
UPDATED: Plate-II-Print
The hand held Plate-II-Print is an inexpensive tool for flexographic printers to check both plate quality and print quality quickly and efficiently. It has been one of the star products for Troika during the past six months, and feedback from both dealers and customers has led the company to incorporate a significant enhancement that allows printers to fingerprint their presses and archive the characterisation data for future comparison and analysis. This exceedingly powerful and useful enhancement will ensure that Plate-II-Print wins even more friends at Drupa.
Also on show: FlexoCAM
FlexoCAM is a quality control tool for evaluating the flexographic plate, film and mask, and the printed sheet. On the plate, relief height, dot percentage, and screen rulings and angles can all be measured, either on a flat plate or on the cylinder. FlexoCAM can also be seen on the Asahi Photoproducts (hall 5, stand D20) and MacDermid Printing Solutions (hall 5, stand A37) stands.
Also on show: LithoCAM / LithoCAM Lite
LithoCAM and LithoCAM Lite continue to be popular measuring equipment within the lithographic printing arena, with many leading computer-to-plate system manufacturers using these products to ensure continued plate production quality.
